We are seeking expressions of interest from 10 children’s services across Victoria to participate in an innovative professional learning initiative: the Road Safety Inquiry Project 2026.

This project will empower lead educators and practitioners to conduct a place-based Road Safety Inquiry Project, deepening their understanding of road safety education in early childhood while addressing meaningful safety challenges in their community.

What is involved?

The project runs from March to November 2026 and includes:

  • Nine professional learning sessions (a mix of online and face to face).
  • Support to implement a local action research Road Safety Inquiry Project.
  • Six hours of consultancy support from one of the amazing Starting Out Safely Consultants.
  • Sharing your findings with your colleagues and others, including through publications.
  • A ThingleToodle session.
  • A whole of service face to face professional development session.
  • An amazing road safety pack full of resources.
  • Bespoke professional learning opportunity for your service focusing on the embedding of road safety education through inquiry.

Each service is required to send two participants to the project, one of whom must be the Educational Leader or a lead practitioner who can influence practice across the service.

Applications are required to be endorsed by the Approved provider or senior management.
